(More customer reviews)I bought this portable CD player to occasionally listen to some CDs while I baked.It is small and light enough to move around but I wanted it stationary.The radio reception is mmmeh.If some one in the house moves, the signal is lost to static.I wanted to play CDs so I overlooked this nuisance.

I took it out of the box and read the instructions.It states to always use the stop button to stop the CD and never to just open the lid.Okay, I figured it was cheap so I would follow the instructions to prolong the life.

I found a place to put it and left it there.I only played a few CDs a week.Once, I used the repeat feature.I always used the stop button and even waited for the CD to stop spinning before switching out.Overall this product probably had less than 40 hours of service before it started to clank when it tried to read a CD.It played another two times and now it can't read CDs at all.Only clanks, clanks, clanks.

So for $20 it worked for about 40 hours.It was in only in our house for about 2 months.

Bose Wave Music System - Graphite Gray Review

(More customer reviews)I've had my Bose for about two years. I'm very glad to have received it as a present because, despite some of its fine features, it certainly does not merit the hefty, comparable-to-a-small-home-stereo price tag.

I like its design and its sound.

I don't like the following "features":

1) It is the most sensitive CD player I have. It will not properly play a number of CDs, especially CD-Rs. If a disc is slightly thin, the unit will either not accept it (you have to give it a push) or not eject it (you have to open up the unit, turn it on, hit "eject," and pull the disc out). This is especially annoying when my $70 boombox plays them without a problem. Refurbishing by Bose did nothing to change my unit's sensitivity.

2) It is not programmable! It doesn't program songs at all. The best it can do is "shuffle," "shuffle repeat," "repeat track," and "repeat disc." The cheapest boombox these days is programmable.

3) The lack of buttons is annoying: I found I had to order a second remote ($10) and keep it by the box. When I called Bose about this problem, the tech suggested getting the second remote and added that a lot of people had done that. My boombox is more user-friendly (it has buttons as well as a remote).

One can argue about the merits of elegance vs. user-friendliness. But the lack of programmability and the oversensitivity of this box make it a poor buy, in my opinion.

Sony CFD-E100 Portable CD Radio Cassette Recorder Review

(More customer reviews)I looked for a long time for a stereo, boombox or undercounter radio that would fit well in my kitchen.I wanted something that would fit in a small space but still sound good and be able to tune in my favorite radio station which is not always easy to get in.I read tons of reviews and was getting very discouraged.But the Sony CFD-E100 is perfect for my needs.It sounds great, looks good, takes up only a little space and does *not* use the cord as an antenna - which I have found to be an annoying "feature" of some radios.Also, the case is that same white appliance plastic that my coffee maker and toaster are made from, so it blends well in my kitchen and is easy to clean.I also think it's attractive with the blue accents.To save space, the CD player is vertical and in the front, while the cassette player is in the back.So you can't see the cassette player from the front, which confused my husband for a minute.But there's no reason that one way or the other has to be the "front" so you can just turn it around if you want to use the cassette player and need to see it.It also comes with a remote, which I have not had the need to use.

Pros:
* small footprint
* digital tuner that is fairly strong
* CD player
* cassette player-recorder
* pull-out antenna (not one of those "antenna in cord" things)
* easy to clean
* decent speakers

Cons
* a little hard to figure out how to set the radio pre-sets
* price - I paid $70 - not outrageous but not inexpensive

(More customer reviews)We were looking for a portable stereo with a CD, mp3 and tape player with detachable speakers that can also run on batteries, and found this one.There were no reviews on it yet, so we were a little hesitant to buy it.But we did, and are quite pleased with it.

So many reviews on Unirex products say this button didn't work and that player didn't work, but everything on this stereo worked right from the start, and is still working.It is a nice compact size, maybe as wide as 3 1/2 CD's with the speakers attached.

One really nice feature is the USB port.I loaded 850+ mp3 songs onto a flash drive and plugged it in.It shares controls with the CD player, so I set it on random play.It played music from the flash drive with little or no lag time in between songs in random mode.There is also a remote for controlling CD/USB play.You can't control the volume or turn the unit off/on with it though.

The controls are easy to use, but there is no control for tone, just a Bass Boost button.Its tone is decent (but not great) with the Bass Boost on or off.You can crank the volume up pretty far without distortion too.It can be a little difficult to tune a station in on the radio, although it doesn't seem to drift once tuned in.

Disney's Pirates Of The Caribbean CD Boombox Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this because I like Pirates Of The Caribbean stuff.This is a nice novelty item to have and will no doubt increase in value over time for collectors of such items.Having said that, I wish the storage compartments were a bit larger to be able to store CD's.The compartments aren't very deep so they won't hold much other than some coins or rings.It would have been even nicer if it was also a radio too. It's nothing great as a CD player is concerned, very basic.But this is a cool novelty item to have and I will enjoy showing it off to friends.

I give it 4 stars for being the unique item that it is.I would have given it 5 stars if it also had a built in AM/FM radio and larger storage capacity.

It also allows you to hook your MP3 player up via a port located in the front of the chest.I haven't tried this out yet, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Wouldn't it have been extra cool to have provided a remote control shaped like Jack Sparrow's compass to go with it!

(More customer reviews)I've been looking for a small portable stereo / cd player / iphone player for a few months now. I finally settled and took a chance on the RCA RCD175i. Not because I found so many great and helpful reviews. That sure didn't happen! I couldn't even find one review, lol I purchased this mainly because it looked nice and had most of the features I was looking for. The RCA RCD175i came in perfect new condition and was packed well thanks to Amazon. The speakers sound good for their size. They can fill a decent sized room with plenty of sound. It's no JBL or Bose, but you get what you pay for. The cd player is tray loading which is kind of a neat feature on a portable stereo. It also came with a free Santana cd in the tray? I'm not a big Santana fan, but that's still cool. The iphone dock works great. It charges the iphone and you can control the iphone's music skip and play/pause features with the remote. This stereo takes 6 D size batteries if you want it to be fully portable. I haven't used the radio yet. You really don't need a radio when you have the I Heart Radio app on your iphone. The only thing I wish this had is a better way of docking the iphone. Don't get me wrong the dock is fine and works as it should, but I like the front docking and cover idea like on the Sony ZSS4IP because you can carry it around while the iphone is playing and it helps protect too. Over all I'm very happy with my purchase. I hope this review is helpful.

The TV is HDTV with an over-the-air $10 antenna and the picture quality is terrific at 7 inches. It has a USB port plus a SD card slot. I don't know of another unit available with all these features. The speakers are separate from the center unit which allows them to be placed apart or used as one piece. Easy setup. I am a tech guy and this unit totally impressed me for the money. Amazon has by far the best pricing and the delivery was super quick.

(More customer reviews)I'm a bit confused as to some of the negative reviews for this CD player.It is not advertised as having a flash drive nor does it say you can play an MP3 player through it.It states it will play CDs with MP3 files on it.Big difference.Also, complaints about the tuner not being digital...nowhere is it advertised to be.People really should read the description of the product before buying it and then complaining about it in a review.

This is a great CD player.I've had it for several weeks now and have never had an issue with it at all.CDs play fine and the radio (AM & FM) come in crystal clear.I would definitely recommend this CD player to someone looking for a no-frills player that works extremely well for the price.Compact, light-weight and EXTREMELY easy to use.My six-year-old daughter uses it with no problem at all.HIGHLY recommended.
